Brief Summary on Kristen’s Role as Melinda Sordino

Melinda has gone through something so traumatic she becomes a selective mute. Melinda is unable to speak to her family , friends and anyone in school. Her art teacher tells her to draw a tree then lets see what it looks like at the end of the year. Melinda is finally able to come to terms with what happened to her by using the art as a way of finally seeing what happened to her. She confronts her rapist at the end of the movie and finally tells her mother.
