Hot off the tail of the announcement of TS 12 on Travis Kelce and brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Travis has a big reveal of his own. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is GQ‘s latest cover star, and “America’s Sweetheart” has a lot to say about life with Swift (swoon), his goals for the upcoming football season and even his favorite fragrances.
Kelce as a bonafide fragrance guy makes sense when you think about his commitment to bold off-the-field style and all around cool-guy vibe. “Every store that I go into in terms of boutiques, I’ll even go into a smell good store and just, you know, have at it. Just start spraying away, waving ’em around, smelling them,” Kelce says. His enthusiasm for shopping in a “smell good store” may not have been on our bingo card, but we welcome Kelce to the fragrance fandom with open arms.
As for his scent essentials, “You gotta have more than just one, ladies and gentlemen. You gotta have a few, a variety. Sometimes you can mix and match if they smell good together and they pair well together.” Spoken like a true scent connoisseur.
First of Kelce’s favorite colognes is Ex Nihilo Blue Talisman ($355). “I love this one. This is my favorite one right now,” Kelce says. With notes of ginger, bergamot, amber and musk, Blue Talisman is a fresh and woodsy fragrance. “That Blue Talisman tells us everything we need to know 😮💨🔥,” agrees one Instagram comment.
Kelce may have wholesomely revealed he failed freshman French, but that hasn’t deterred the athlete from appreciating French fragrances. Rounding out his top three are two Louis Vuitton scents: Louis Vuitton LV Lovers ($350), a solar-powered bergamot scent with notes of sandalwood and ginger, and Louis Vuitton Attrape-Rêves ($350), a floral and patchouli scent topped with notes of bergamot and ginger (I’m sensing a pattern!). The latter pick—marketed as a woman’s perfume—is also a reminder that fragrance is for everyone, and fragrance preferences shouldn’t be limited to gender.
“It’s all trial and error, and just you know, whatever you feel like,” echos Kelce. “And obviously there’s certain smells that just match the fit perfectly. Whether it’s like dinner night or you’re going out with your friends or just going to work. Who doesn’t love smelling good?” We couldn’t agree more.
