Whether you’re looking to swap out your summery scent for a warmer one this fall, or you’re on the hunt for a new signature scent, there are so many great launches in the fragrance category this month. From Christian Louboutin’s “dangerous lavender” to lots of gourmand (the trend is still booming), there’s a little something for everyone. Below, see our list of the best new fragrances for September, which can boost your mood and express your personal style with a quick little spritz.
The Best New Fragrances to Try This Month
TOCCA Laila Eau de Parfum ($86)
The latest addition to TOCCA’s cult-favorite fragrance family and the brand’s first-ever gourmand, “Laila is the embodiment of the Italian expression piacere—meaning pleasure—ever in pursuit of indulgence and enjoyment.” A beautiful mix of bergamot, vanilla and amber, it’s decadent, but not too sweet.
KEY NOTES
Top: Green Mandarin, Bergamot, Desert Rain Accord; Mid: Jasmine Nectar, Lily of the Valley, Cardamom Blossom; Base: Toasted Vanilla, White Woods, Golden Amber
by/rosie jane REMI Eau de Parfum ($80)
The brand says this citrus-forward scent is “inspired by California citrus groves, winter beach walks and cozy California cabins.” The top notes are bright and zesty but the dry down is warm and soft. It’s not something I would typically choose in the fall, but I love the positioning against the current sea of gourmand scents.
“REMI is our most refined fragrance yet,” says Rosie Jane Johnston, founder and CEO. “It gives us permission to pause—to take a breath and simply feel. So much of the fragrance world right now is about doing the most. REMI is about doing less, but feeling more. It’s quiet luxury in a bottle.”
KEY NOTES
Top: Bergamot Leaf, Mandarin, Cardamom; Mid: Petitgrain, Verbena Leaf, White Gardenia, Indian Jasmine, Green Hemp; Base: Milk Musk, White Amber, Green Cedar
Issey Miyake L’eau d’Issey Eau de Parfum Intense ($156)
This modern, aquatic-floral fragrance “draws deep inspiration from the mysterious poetry of the ocean, specifically the underwater meadows of Posidonia (Neptune grass), discovered alongside diver and photographer Alexis Rosenfeld.” Rooted in sustainability, the scent is composed of 91-percent naturally derived ingredients and uses beetroot-based alcohol from France.
“Issey Miyake originally imagined his first fragrance as an ode to one of the four elements, evoking a lotus flower rising from the surface of the water,” says perfumer Amandine Clerc-Marie. “The presence of Calone transports us to a floating world, where floral notes reign. This new creation aligns itself to this concept. It presents a plunge into the heart of green, floral and vanilla notes, crossed by the intensity of the aquatic notes of a Posidonia accord. The new version of L’Eau d’Issey uses the emblematic materials of the first fragrance, such as damask rose, which retains a pinkish floral identity. The woody tones of the original signature are found in the base notes. I’ve intensified the aqueous facets of the original L’Eau d’Issey and added a touch of voluptuousness and sensuality with amber, woody and vanilla notes.”
KEY NOTES
Posidonia (Neptune grass), Ylang-Ylang, Damascene Rose Absolute, Vanilla
Gucci Guilty Absolu Pour Femme ($187)
An intense, ambery gourmand, this fragrance represents the next generation of Gucci Guilty. If you love the OG and want to explore a new olfactive story within the same family, this is a scent to smell. It’s sexy, oozes confidence, and the lasting power is noteworthy.
“This is an amaretto, coffee-cocktail fragrance that dries down with a tonka bean absolute for a delicious gourmand scent,” says Danielle Hegarty, marketing director at Coty. “It’s more intense than Gucci Guilty Elixir; it’s a strong perfume—a statement.”
KEY NOTES
Wisteria Accord, Coffee Amaretto Accord, Tonka Bean Absolute
Dior Miss Dior Essence de Parfum (Starting at $134)
A fruity-floral fragrance you won’t want to stop sniffing, this new addition to the Miss Dior collection combines blackberry, elderflower and jasmine with an oaky essence to balance everything out. For the brand’s perfume creative director, renowned perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, the scent is “a symbol of a powerful and magnetic femininity.” We love the frosted houndstooth motif on the glass and the black couture bow as well.
KEY NOTES
Blackberry, Elderflower, Jasmine Smoked Oakwood
Christian Louboutin Beaute Fétiche La Lavande ($250)
Calling all lavender fans: This fragrance showcases the plant like you’ve never smelled it before. Described as “sensual, bold and magnetic,” the unisex scent combines lavender with leather and hyacinth to give it more edge.
“With Lavande Fétiche, I wanted to explore the unexpected contrast between the aromatic sophistication of a lavender trio and the sensuality of a warm leather, almost animalistic,” says master perfumer Domitille Michalon. “I started with lavender, working it in multiple forms—essence, absolute, lavandin heart—to reveal all its facets. Around it, I built a vibrant trail: the freshness of juniper berries, the floral brightness of hyacinth, the depth of vetiver, and finally a leathery accord, dark and sensual. Each ingredient was chosen for its ability to enrich the structure, to create movement and texture.”
KEY NOTES
Black Leather, Hyacinth, Lavender
AERIN Amber Musk Vanille Eau de Parfum ($150)
Another ambery gourmand fragrance on our radar right now, this limited-edition scent is “anchored by the original scent’s [Amber Musk] distinctive amber, creamy musk and velvety rose centifolia.” Aerin Lauder, founder and creative director, says “Amber Musk Vanille is a sweet interpretation of my best-selling fragrance, Amber Musk. Inspired by cherished memories, the scent blends notes of warm amber, vanilla and marshmallow, offering a comforting embrace with every note.” This is definitely one you’ll want to wear throughout the fall and winter seasons, and beyond.
KEY NOTES
Rose Centifolia, Amber, Musk, Vanilla, Marshmallow, Baies Roses, Orange Flower
Chloé Le Parfum ($190)
If classic florals are your cup of tea, pour yourself a glass of this new one, which is “the most powerful yet” in Chloe’s signature collection. Orange blossom and rose are center stage, but they’re “grounded with gourmand tonka bean, amber and vanilla,” says Danielle Hegarty, marketing director at Coty. The brand describes the refillable fragrance as “warm, powerful and seductive,” which presents the feminine perfume in a new light.
KEY NOTES
Orange Blossom, Rose, Tonka Vanille
