Yes, that is September practically knocking down the door of 2025 already. The year is flying by and in the blur of so many noteworthy moments over the last eight months, you may have missed some big beauty news. Case in point: there have been some major foundation launches this year, from (much appreciated) updates to classic favorites and an innovative foundation/concealer hybrid that just may change the whole game to the return of velvety, matte-finish formulas. Keep scrolling for the best new foundations of 2025, so far.
MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation ($39)
In April, MAC expanded their Studio Fix Foundation to include a talc-free, sweat- and water-resistant refillable powder formula with 67 (!) shades. “The finish creates a new type of matte skin that’s soft-focus, smooth and devoid of any powdery residue,” says MACS director of makeup artistry, Terry Barber. Think pore-blurring, shine control and a healthy radiance for 24 hours.
Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Foundation ($47)
Just last month Benefit Cosmetics released its highly-anticipated skin-smoothing and pore-blurring foundation. These benefits are thanks to the inclusion of niacinamide and rose hip; in fact 97 percent of users in clinical testing said their bare skin was smoother after four weeks of use. Glycerin rounds out the key ingredients to keep skin hydrated all day. Grab this one for an airbrushed matte finish with medium coverage.
bareMinerals Original Talc-Free Pressed Powder Foundation Mineral SPF 15 ($39)
The newest foundation launch of the year comes from bareMinerals. If you loved the brand’s Matte Loose Powder Foundation (IYKYK) but hated the mess it made at the bottom of your makeup bag, allow us to introduce the same iconic formula, now as a pressed powder. It’s still talc-free, mineral-based, dermatologist-tested, non-acnegenic and non-comedogenic; everything we love about bareMinerals makeup.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Impeccable Blurring Second Skin Matte Foundation ($46)
If you’ve noticed a theme with 2025’s latest foundations, the name of the game is blur, blur, blur. Anastasia Beverly Hills’ second-skin, medium-to-full coverage foundation offers a soft velvet-matte finish, but maintains hydration for up to 12 hours thanks to a generous dose of hyaluronic acid.
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Skin Ink 2-in-1 Foundation Concealer ($19)
The majority of days I wear makeup I skip foundation altogether, opting for a skin tint or, more frequently, concealer all over my face. L’Oreal’s new 2-in-1 Foundation Concealer gives the best of both worlds: medium-to-full coverage in a lightweight liquid formula that easily dabs and blends.
Lawless Forget The Filler Skin-Plumping Line-Smoothing Foundation ($47)
Matte skin is back–but if you think “matte” means heavy or cakey, think again. This full-coverage, natural finish matte foundation delivers filter-like skin (think: invisible pores and smooth texture) that feels light as air. In fact, 90 percent of users in a clinical trial reported the wear feels “weightless.” The formula includes biomimetic hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and glycerin to support added skin benefits like hydration and firmness.
Live Tinted HUESTICK Complexion Stick ($38)
This month, Live Tinted’s Complexion Stick launched with real skin tones and undertones in mind. Off the heels of its successor, Huestick® All-Over Color Corrector, the creamy Complexion Stick can be used to brighten, contour, bronze, blur or conceal in 20 inclusive shades. Then there’s the ingredient list: ceramides strengthen the skin barrier, squalane smooths and moisturizes, hyaluronic acid hydrates and plumps, vitamin C helps brighten and even tone and goji berry extract offers antioxidant-rich support.
