Every October, Laura Geller Beauty, the brand that boasts a bevy of makeup products tailored to mature skin, donates an impressive amount to charity during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, the brand put together a limited-edition collection benefiting Fran Drescher’s Cancer Schmancer Movement. This October, 50 percent of proceeds from the collection will be donated to Cancer Schmancer, which supports prevention, early detection and advocacy. In the spirit of the holidays, 20 percent of proceeds will continue to benefit the organization through November and December as well.

The Laura Geller x Fran Drescher BCA Kit ($49) is a $75 value and features some of Drescher’s favorite products in limited-edition pink packaging. The kit includes a Baked Eyeshadow Quad, Kajal Longwear Eyeliner and a Dual-Ended Eyeshadow Brush. “I’m very grateful that we are supported by the Laura Geller Beauty company because Laura Geller is a breast cancer survivor, I’m a uterine cancer survivor, and we’re both here, and we both want to help empower women and change the way they think, the way they look, the way they live,” says Drescher.

“I’m so happy. You just don’t know when you’re starting that journey what’s going to happen. The more distance you put between being diagnosed and the present, gives you more and more confidence that you feel like, ‘okay, I beat it,’” says Drescher. “But I never abuse my body, and I really am very mindful of how to eat and how to function so that my immune system can operate optimally.”

“I really feel like sometimes things happen to me and I can leverage my fame to take my experience and pass it forward with what I learned from it,” says Drescher. “And “I do that all the time, and that’s what gives me purpose in my life.”

On maintaining a healthy lifestyle…

“I drink a lot of water and only pristine water. It’s either highly filtered or it’s spring water in glass. I also eat organic. Everything has to be organic or regenerative, and that’s very important,” says Drescher noting even her dog eats organic. “I sleep on very good bed linens, they’re 100 percent organic cotton,” she says, noting the chemicals present in some wrinkle-free sheets. She also avoids perfumes and room deodorizers aside from essential oils.

“Cut back on the alcohol, especially if you’re a mature woman, because it shows right away on the skin. You can tell a woman who has herself a drink. It shows on the outside, it shows on the inside,” says Drescher, who only drinks one kind of wine—Brunello di Montalcino. “It doesn’t give me inflammation. In fact, most of the time if I have just a glass of that specific wine, I actually feel less inflamed the next day. So there’s some magical chemical composition,” she says of the wine. But she notes that she only has a glass as a treat. “You’ve got to know, when you’re at an age where certain things have to be a treat.”

On her favorite Laura Geller Beauty products…

Drescher considers Laura Geller Beauty products safe cosmetics that fit into her lifestyle. “I love her products.  I love that all the powder products are baked,” says Drescher, referring to some of the brand’s blush, foundation, setting and bronzing formulas. She adds that most brushes she’s encountered aren’t as soft as Laura Geller’s or the hairs come out too easily, but she loves the brand’s brush collection. She often uses the brand’s Kabuki brush to apply Baked Balance-n-Brighten Color Correcting Foundation ($38), then builds on that.

“I love her lip liners ($21). I love her lipsticks ($21-$24)—they never get waxy,” says Drescher. She adds that the eyeshadows ($24-$45) are also great because they don’t flake. “I have pretty long eyelashes, and I don’t use mascara that’s waterproof or anything like that, but hers, first of all, has a very long wand, which I like,” says Drescher of Laura Geller’s mascaras ($26). “And it doesn’t bleed on my cheeks, which I have high cheekbones, so when I smile, it can happen.”

When it comes to eyeliners, she likes the brand’s dark brown shades ($24). “I think maybe that’s my age. Black looks too harsh on me now,” she says. She applies the liner both under and over the lash line, then uses a slanted brush to smudge it, blending it into a dark brown cappuccino-colored shadow. “She has a few different eyebrow things that I really love,” says Drescher, pointing to the Sculpt-n-Stay Brow Gel ($20).

Drescher also praises Baked Blush-n-Brighten Marbleized Blush ($32), which she notes is marbelized and comes in a variety of colors. “It comes in different colors, and they’re all marbleized,” she says. “It looks like you’re blushing.”

“She’s got like a sheer, kind of silky powder to put over everything. It has like six different colors in it—green, light lavender, peach. The whole thing is this, like Rubik’s cube of pale colors, not marbalized, but little squares, and  I love it,” says Drescher, referring to the Filter Finish Radiant Setting Powder ($34).

“There’s a whole slew of spackle primers ($22-$38), and each one is for a different skin type, skin tone, occasion, time of day, in the sun, in the evening,” says Drescher. “I keep telling my mom, you have to try the Brighten-n-Blur ($36). “I love Laura Geller Beauty because they support Cancer Schmancer. I love them because they make a product that I get behind,” she says, noting that she’s also got her mom and friends hooked.
