On the rare day I don’t have a little rouge on my cheeks, I never feel like the best version of myself. Blush is my happy place (and mascara, concealer, lip liner, lip balm). Let’s be honest, I love it all—I’m a beauty editor. But there’s something about a creamy, buttery, second-skin blush that really lights me up. That’s the new Summer Fridays Blush Butter Balm ($28). It’s beautiful. Here’s the scoop on this brand-new launch, hitting the market today.

What I Love About This Blush Balm

First, it’s so soft on my skin. Infused with a mix of butters (shea, mango seed and illipe), hyaluronic acid, peptides and ceramides, it blends like a dream for a really pretty, dewy (but diffused) finish. The brand describes the fragrance-free formula as a “skincare-first blush,” and that’s 100-percent accurate. My skin looks fresh and hydrated, and feels comfortable, like I have nothing on. I was also surprised about the wearability, especially outside in high heat and humidity, but it stayed put. This is a great option for those with dry or mature skin, but all skin types will love it.

It comes in six shades that are very flattering and wearable, including Soft Strawberry (neutral pink), Pink Sunset (warm peachy-pink), Sweet Rosé (cool baby pink), Toasted Terracotta (warm rose), Dusty Rose (cool dusty rose) and Berry Spritz (neutral berry). My favorites for my light skin tone are Sweet Rosé and Pink Sunset, which are perfect everyday blush shades and can be built up for a night out. I also tried them on my lips, and wow. So pretty!

For a while now, I’ve gravitated toward cream blush sticks, but this tiny, ergonomic compact made me remember how convenient it is to have a built-in mirror for on-the-go-application. There’s also a new Blush Butter Balm Brush ($28), which I wasn’t sure I’d love at first (dual-ended brushes aren’t always my favorite), but now I can’t imagine applying this blush without it. Because the blush is super pigmented, it helps to have one end to pick up the pigment and one end to blend it in. This helps you achieve the perfect look by flipping back and forth to apply more where you need it, without having to dip back into the pan. The bottom line: If you like cream blush, try this one stat!
