HairTok isn’t my favorite realm of the internet. I love finding styling tutorials and new braid trends, but am admittedly particular about the products in my routine. As a straight-haired natural, I’ve developed a regimen that works and keeps my hair healthy. When certain products continue to pop up on my feed, I feel it’s only right to give them a chance. Especially if said products improve sore areas like split ends, broken edges, dryness and frizz. Beauty trends move quickly on TikTok, and it can be easy to get caught up in the hype from reviews. Testing a new hair-care item isn’t as easy as trying skin-care products. From shampoos to hair masks and leave-in treatments, implementing a new product requires time and patience. However, I found several that proved well worth their viral value. Ahead, see the trendy hair-care products that’ve earned a spot in my picky routine.

Viral hair-care products that are actually worth the hype

K18 Biomimetic Hairscience Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask ($75)

Between the 20+ billion TikTok views and tons of testimonies, it’s not hard to see why this product has built a reputation. The leave-in treatment’s formula works at the molecular level to repair damage from bleach, heat, chemicals and everything in between. It’s also highly concentrated for a speedy recovery.

Cécred Restoring Hair & Edge Drops ($56)

These edge drops are quickly becoming one of the brand’s cult classics. The water-based formula is made with peptides and bio-fermented ingredients to restore breakage around the crown. But it also improves overall hair density and scalp health. Application is also a breeze thanks to the dropper and serum-like texture that melts into the scalp. Consistency is key, but the results are well worth the wait.

Amika Soulfood Nourishing Hair Mask ($36)

Amika’s hair masks are a common sight on TikTok. While the others address one specific concern, their Soulfood Nourishing mask tackles everything from dryness to frizz, breakage and split ends. Beyond that, it’s packed with enriching ingredients that condition the hair, making it silky smooth and shiny.

Olaplex No.7 Bonding Hair Oil ($30)

The beauty of this oil is that it works for all textures and hair types. Despite being formulated from several oils and emollients, it’s lightweight and melts into your hair with little work. Sure, it adds shine and tames frizz, but it’s also a highly effective heat protectant, making it a winner for silk presses and blowouts. A few drops always leaves my hair shiny and weightless.

Heat styling takes a toll on my curls, but I can always count on this pre-shampoo to revive them and deter frizz in the process. The consistency isn’t too thick, and ingredients like Murumuru seed butter and oat extract work to smooth as they nourish and hydrate curls. Use it as a treatment before you shower or quickly ahead of cleansing.
