When it came to styling Selena Gomez’s hair for her wedding day to Benny Blanco over the weekend, stylist Renato Campora left no detail behind.
“In preparing Selena’s hair for a celebration of joy, unity and love, every detail had to be perfect,” the Joico partner shared (he used the line exclusively). “To ensure a flawless foundation, I began by washing her hair twice with Joico Defy Damage Protective Shampoo, followed by a 30-minute treatment with the Joico Defy Damage KBOND20 Power Masque. This powerful combination resets the hair by removing buildup and thoroughly cleansing the hair.”
The result: Hair that’s primed to absorb essential nutrients, reduce frizz, enhancing moisture, shine, strength, and protection from heat styling, Campora explains.
“Next, the hair is towel-dried and carefully sectioned. I then apply Joico Dream Blowout Glass 72HR Frizz Fighter from mid-lengths to ends to ensure even distribution and long-lasting smoothness.
Then, using a rat-tail comb, Campora created a deep side part and transitioned back to the nape of the neck, where he sectioned the hair into two-inch sections. “Each section is treated with Joico JoiWhip Design Foam from roots to ends, then blow-dried with a large round brush and pinned to set and cool. I continued this technique across the entire head to achieve a voluminous and polished base. Once cooled, the hair is noticeably shiny, bouncy and full of life.”
For styling, Campora begin at the front of Gomez’s head, just above the ear, working in one-inch horizontal sections. “I sprayed each section generously with Joico Heat Hero Glossing Thermal Protector for thermal protection. Then, using a three-quarter-inch spring curling iron, I created a marcel wave pattern, pinning each curl to cool and hold its shape. I repeated this motion across the front, then move to the opposite side, and finally the back—starting at the nape and working upward.”
After all curls had cooled for 20 minutes, Campora removed the pins and gently brushed through each section to blend the waves together. “Special attention is given to the face-framing pieces, which are shaped to highlight and enhance the facial structure,” he says.
“To finish, I had exclusive access to Joico’s unreleased Hold Hero High Hold & Shine Boosting Finishing Spray, applying a generous mist to lock in Selena’s entire hairstyle with long-lasting hold and incredible shine.”
The final result: “A flawless, timeless, healthy-looking Hollywood Glamour Marcel Wave Bob for a day that celebrates love, beauty and perfection.”
